Anxiety & stress

When thoughts won't stop and the body stays on alert, therapy helps the nervous system learn safety again.

Anxiety is the reason people come to see me most often. It rarely announces itself clearly. It shows up as a tight chest before a meeting, as three hours of sleep lost to a conversation you already had, as an irritability you don't recognise in yourself.

Anxiety is not a character flaw and it is not something to fight. It is a protective system that has learned to stay switched on. Our work is to understand what it is protecting, and to give it another way to do its job.

You may recognise yourself if…

Racing or looping thoughts, especially at night
A body that stays tense: jaw, shoulders, stomach, breath
Anticipating the worst, over-preparing, over-checking
Avoiding places, people or decisions to keep the anxiety quiet
Panic surges that seem to come from nowhere
Feeling fine on the surface and exhausted underneath

How we work together

We begin by mapping your anxiety: when it appears, what it says, what it is trying to prevent. Naming it precisely already lowers its volume.

We then work at two levels. With the body, through breath, movement and hypnosis, so the alarm system can come down from red. With the story, through parts work and EMDR, so the older experiences feeding the alarm can finally be processed.

You leave each session with something usable — a way to interrupt the loop, a way to breathe, a sentence to say to yourself at 3am.

The first step is often the most difficult. Let's take it together.
